The Romanian Society of Palaeontologists (RSP) was founded in 1994 through the unanimous agreement of scientists working in the field of Palaeontology from Romania. The Society is a registered non-profit organization that promotes palaeontology and related sciences through biennial meetings, publication of original research, field guides and a program of awards. The RSP (Society) is promoting scientific research and education in the field of Palaeontology and related areas like Stratigraphy, Sedimentology, Paleobiogeography, Paleoecology, Basin Analyses, Geoheritage and Geoconservation.
The RSP national and international meetings offers excellent opportunities for scientists working in these fields to share their research experience and results, to discuss different topics of interest, and to initiate collaborative projects.
The RSP support the publication of the scientific journal Acta Palaeontologica Romaniae indexed in GeoRef, Master Journal List Thomson Reuters, EBSCO and Scopus.
Since 2011, the Acta Palaeontologica Romaniae scientific journal is directed by Prof. Dr. Ioan I Bucur as editor-in-chief and became a regular journal with 2 issues per year. The submitted papers follow a rigorous peer-review process in order to raise the content of the journal to higher international standards. Subscriptions to the Acta Palaeontologica Romaniae are included in Society membership.
